Comics publisher Boom! Studios plans to release an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five this September. The company is producing the adaptation with the help of Eisner Award-winning writer Ryan North (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, How To Invent Everything: A Survival Guide For The Stranded Time Traveler) and Eisner-nominated artist Albert Monteys (Universe!), as well as color from artist Ricard Zaplana. The 1969 original work blends a darkly funny, autobiographical perspective on World War II with mind-bending science fiction elements that provide a glowing alien mirror into the bleakest corners of the human soul....

Better Call Saul will have to separate Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), leaving many to imagine she’ll be killed off - but that would be the wrong choice for the Breaking Bad prequel. Good sitcom writers have a way of making the most mundane and humorless setups into real comedy gold. Take a classic show like Frasier, which revolved around a super-pompous psychiatrist (Dr. Frasier Crane, of Cheers fame), his even-more-super-pompous brother, their old dad and, dad’s physical therapist Daphne Moon. Does it sound hilarious? Of course it doesn’t, but the dialogue is just fantastic and the jokes come abundant and fast. Not only that, but the show manages to pull off something that The Simpsons was once so good at (while the fans still liked the show): blending silly slapstick moments and cheap toilet humor with comedy of a more ‘sophisticated’ level: wit, wordplay, clever references, that sort of thing....

Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are being sued for their work on a soundtrack song for Marvel’s Black Panther. Black Panther was a rare sensation, as the film directed by Ryan Coogler seemed to set records and experience incredible amounts of success in every possible avenue. Critically, the Marvel Cinematic Universe tale was showered with praise, becoming the first superhero film to receive a Best Picture nomination at the Oscar’s. Keeping in line with its themes and mostly all African-American cast, Black Panther hit theaters during Black History month, and went on to break several box office records, and surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office....

Renowned film and television review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes has named Marvel’s Black Panther the best-reviewed wide release of 2018. Since its release back in February, the film has seen major success and high praise, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide with a 97 percent approval rating on the site. Weaving the tale of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) as he struggles to fulfill his obligations as King of Wakanda, Black Panther has broken several records since its release - not only becoming the highest-grossing film directed by an African American, but cracking the top ten highest grossing films of all time....

The late Princess Diana was reportedly scheduled to star in a sequel to The Bodyguard, according to Kevin Costner, who revealed the production backstory that preceded the Princess of Wales’ 1997 death in Paris. Directed by Mick Jackson and written by Lawrence Kasdan, The Bodyguard released in 1992. Costner portrays the titular character Frank Farmer, and Whitney Houston co-stars as pop singer Rachel Marron. The film marked Houston’s feature debut, and was relatively progressive at the time given the on-screen romance between a black musician and a white bodyguard....

Netflix recently released the final episodes of BoJack Horseman, and fans were pleased with how this near-perfect series came to its conclusion. In the penultimate episode, “The View From Halfway Down,” BoJack finds himself in a recurring dream where he attends a dinner party with all the skeletons in his closet. Later, he discovers that he’s not dreaming. Instead, he’s drowning in the backyard pool of his old house, and he’s about to die....

A new report suggests Danny Boyle may have exited as director of James Bond 25 in a dispute over casting. The road to the next Bond film has been a surprisingly dramatic one. The franchise’s previous installment, Spectre, proved to be somewhat disappointing to fans, and ended in a such a way to suggest it could be Daniel Craig’s final time playing Bond. Craig played coy about returning to the character for a while, before officially signing on for one final movie last year....

Black Lightning is soon set to join the other members of the Arrowverse, as shown off in a new Crisis on Infinite Earths set video. This visually confirms prior reports that Black Lightning will in fact make an appearance in the highly anticipated crossover special.
