Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier (The Night Manager), who directed Netflix’s newest horror-thriller Bird Box, has spoken out about altering the ending of the book. Following its release, the movie has been receiving mixed reactions from viewers, but has become a viral sensation. The post-apocalyptic film is based on Josh Malerman’s 2014 debut novel of the same name. In the film adaptation, supernatural entities are driving members of society to commit suicide by taking the shape of their worst fears or regrets....

Apple is said to have “hundreds of engineers” working on self-driving car technology, but a new report from Bloomberg says the company recently lost “multiple top managers” from the team. Despite these departures, Apple is still said to be actively pursuing its plans to develop a car. The report focuses on three key departures. Dave Scott, who had been leading teams working on robotics for Apple Car, departed in “recent days” to serve as CEO of a health care company....

The star of Marvel Studios’ Black Widow movie, Scarlett Johansson, won’t confirm or deny whether Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner appears in her upcoming solo Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Mahershala Ali has been announced as the MCU’s Blade, despite appearing in the franchise previously - but he’s not the first actor to do so. Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic Con 2019 was packed with reveals and surprises, as Kevin Feige laid out his vision for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Actress Betty Gilpin lands a role in the upcoming action thriller The Hunt. She was first offered a part in January, and now officially joins the cast. Gilpin is best known for portraying Debbie Eagan on the Netflix series GLOW. Directed by Craig Zobel, The Hunt will reportedly explore the political tensions in America, with a narrative premise resembling Battle Royale. Few details have been revealed about who is chasing who in The Hunt, though we do know the film has nothing to do with Jordan Peele’s nazi hunter series of the same name....

The new teaser for FOX’s BH90210 shows more of what the meta-revival has planned, while also showing the original cast together on TV for the first time in nearly 20 years. While revivals and reboots are all the rage in television these days, credit to FOX and to the returning cast members of Beverly Hill 90210 for trying to do something a little different than the usual. In this case, that would be creating a show within a show, wherein the new series is about the original cast gathering together to try and get a more traditional revival of the 90210 off the ground, only to find themselves in a soapy drama that at least looks a bit more like real life....

BioWare recently indicated that they haven’t given up on the Mass Effect series. The Canadian video game developer has no shortage of well-known properties in their stable, but the Mass Effect series, which first launched almost 11 years ago, holds a special place for them. While each member of Harley Quinn’s (Margot Robbie) crew, including Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), each had their origins in DC Comics, not all of the characters connected to them in Birds of Prey existed in the film’s source material....

Marvel Studios recently launched Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the premiere of Captain America: Civil War, which found success both at the box office as well as with critics and casual movie fans alike. In addition to acting as the launchpad for Phase 3, Captain America: Civil War also worked to introduce two new heroes to the MCU, Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther has set a new Monday box office record. The film grossed an estimated $40.16 million in the United States, surpassing the previous Monday box office record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler and returns Chadwick Boseman to the role of T’Challa/Black Panther, following his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Black Panther is currently at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics and 100% with the Tomatometer’s top critics, making it critically one of the highest-rated superhero films of all-time, and the highest-rated Marvel movie of all time....

Michael B. Jordan has talked about his character’s role in Black Panther’s story during an interview where he and the rest of the cast tip-toed around Killmonger’s golden superhero costume. Black Panther was the second-to-last part of the Marvel Studios’ epic SDCC 2017 Hall H panel, bringing with it several reveals and a clip/sizzle reel that earned a standing ovation.
