Lea Seydoux will return for Bond 25 after her appearance in Spectre. The James Bond franchise is known for many things, and its Bond girls are no exception. The roles have varied in their substance over the years, and Seydoux filled that spot in Daniel Craig’s most recent appearance as 007.

It has not been an easy time for Bond 25 to get moving. Craig was originally against returning for another film after his long shoot on Spectre, but cooler heads prevailed in getting him back for one more movie. Bond 25 will be his final film in the franchise, and for a while it appeared director Danny Boyle would close out his run with a new style. However, creative differences grew as Boyle developed his take, and it ultimately led to his departure. The movie has since hired Cary Joji Fukunaga to direct the upcoming installment, and it turns out that a familiar face from the franchise will be joining him.

Daily Mail had the opportunity to speak with Fukunaga, and the director confirmed the return of Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann for Bond 25. Seydoux made her Bond debut in Spectre as Dr. Madeleine Swann. In that film, she encounters Bond in Austria right before she is kidnapped. After Bond saves her life, the two continue on the their journey and begin to get romantically involved. Madeleine is eventually kidnapped once again and puts Bond against a ticking clock to rescue her once again, before she dies in Blofeld’s (Christoph Waltz) trap. Her life is once again saved and Spectre ends with her and Bond driving off. This appeared to be the conclusion of their story when Craig’s disinterest in returning was rampant, but she is now confirmed to make a return.

Seydoux will be just the second Bond girl to make a return to the franchise after Eunice Grayson appeared twice as Sylvia Trench (she first appeared in Dr. No, then returned in From Russia with Love). Maud Adams, who starred as Andrea Anders in The Man with the Golden Gun, also appeared twice in the franchise, but played a different character in Octopussy (she starred as the eponymous Octopussy).

There are currently no details on how Seydoux will factor into Bond 25, but it will hopefully be in a more active role than she had before. As of right now, Seydoux and Craig are set to be joined by franchise regulars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw in the movie. What other roles still need to be filled is not yet clear either, as Fukunaga recently stated that Bond 25 is still without a script. With production set to begin sometime early next year, the movie will need to come together rather quickly, as it has already been delayed once due to the director switch. That said, given Seydoux’s casting, it seems as though Fukunaga has a general idea of what direction the movie will take. At this rate, it will need to come together rather quickly to hit its 2020 release date.
