While the youngster has been missing for about a month, and the Chatham Province Police Department and others have been digging through “thousands of tons of garbage” in a landfill, authorities put out a statement Wednesday saying that it is conceivable he may not be found.

“We knew going into this landfill search, the chances of recovering Quinton’s remains were low,” the department composed on Facebook and Twitter.
“Most landfill searches don’t end in a recuperation because of many factors including volume of trash to search and compression of the debris, be that as it may, we stay focused.”
“The landfill search has been a task more grueling than anyone could imagine,” added the post. “We might want to thank the dedicated Chatham District Police Department, FBI, GBI and Chatham Province Sheriff’s Office personnel who have gone to that site a large number of days – determined to find Quinton and to find answers.”
The police added that the kid’s mother, Leilani Simon, 22, remains the great suspect, stating that “everything actually points” to his remains being recuperated in the landfill.
She was recently named as the superb suspect after her 20-month-old son disappeared from their Buckhalter Road home in Savannah on Oct, 5, although no charges have been documented against her. The kid was accounted for missing around 9 a.m. the morning of his disappearance after Quinton’s family realized he was gone at 6 a.m. He was wearing a light blue Sesame Road shirt and black pants. In an Oct. 25 interview with local station WTOC-TV, Simon said that she wanted her son to be recuperated “happy and alive.”

“We’re simply hoping that he’s in someone’s home and they’re feeding him and maybe they wanted a baby or could never have a baby,” she told the station.
“Maybe they assumed they were his savior. That’s our best expectation at this point.” Beforehand, Chatham Region Police Boss Jeff Hadley let correspondents know that police accept Quinton’s body was placed in a trash bin and later unloaded at the landfill, according to the Savannah Morning News.
While many have aided in the search, other locals have since picketed external the family home in Georgia, where four individuals were arrested for either blocking the home’s driveway or banging on the windows earlier this month, per WTOC. The New York Post has since revealed that Leilani and her mother, Billie Jo Howell, were spotted at a bar on Tybee Island.
The mother denies her involvement in her son’s disappearance. “I’m here,” she told WTOC. “I’ve been here each day since this.
I’m not running and I’m not hiding. And assuming something comes up that I am at fault, I will take myself to that police headquarters.”
“We might also want to thank the many individuals – both here at home and around the world – who have offered help and encouragement during these last a month,” Chatham District Police Department continued in it’s post. “We appreciate each word and act of kindness for our department and everyone who is working so hard on this case.”
