The late Bobbi Kristina Brown’s ex-boyfriend, Nick Gordon, has passed away at age 30. Gordon was found unresponsive during New Year’s Eve celebrations and was pronounced dead early New Years’ day from a suspected drug overdose.
Bobbi Kristina dated Gordon from 2012 until her death in July 2015, the 22-year-old budding singer was found submerged in a bathtub with drugs in her system and bruises to her chest. Her death echoed her mother’s death, singer Whitney Huston, when she was also found drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel in February 2012. The icon’s death was due to cocaine in her system and heart disease. Bobbi Kristina spent six months in a coma after being found unresponsive before she died. Although her boyfriend, Gordon, was never criminally charged for Bobbi Kristina’s death, her conservator alleged that Bobbi Kristina died due to a violent altercation with Gordon, in which they speculated he put her in a bathtub and injected her with a toxic cocktail of drugs. Though Gordon maintained his innocence and denied all claims of involvement in her death, the judge found her legally responsible for her death and was ordered to pay $36 million in damages.
The Daily Mail revealed that Gordon was found unresponsive after a series of heart attacks amid New Year’s Eve celebrations in Florida. He was rushed into intensive care where doctors were unable to revive him. It’s suspected that Gordon had died from a drug overdose. Gordon’s loved ones were informed of his passing early on New Year’s Day. Gordon was a prolific drug abuser and had even previously sought treatment in rehab for drug abuse after a sit-down intervention on Dr. Phil in 2015. Gordon’s lawyer, Joe Habachy, revealed in 2016 that his client was working as a landscaper in Orlando, Florida and was persuing sobriety and was spending a lot of time with family and friends and working on his health.
Gordon’s brother, Junior Walker, posted about sibling’s sudden death, writing on Facebook, “God why did I have to lose my brother on New Years.” He then shared a photo of the two as children, writing a caption, “All I can do is cry.” Gordon’s attorney confirmed his client’s death saying, “My heart is heavy today after learning that my longtime client Nick Gordon died at the young age of thirty. While I cannot speak to the specific circumstances of his death, I can say that it’s been truly heartbreaking to have witnessed first hand the total devastation that drug addiction has wreaked upon a group of young friends, all of whom were loved and had immense potential.” He continued, “My heart goes out to the family and friends Nick leaves behind and to any other families dealing with the losses and heartache caused by drugs.”
It is a tragic ending to an already horribly tragic story. Over the last decade, drugs have taken members of this family and now it’s claimed another life.
