However, we now know Curse of the Moon 2 is just around the corner. The 8-bit retro-style platformer will release on July 10, 2020.
The release announcement comes alongside a trailer showcasing brand-new gameplay, as well as a few familiar faces.
While the original trailer and announcement only revealed four playable characters, this new trailer nearly doubles that. There are now seven playable characters in Curse of the Moon 2.
Zangetsu returns from Curse of the Moon and Ritual of the Night, alongside Miriam, Gebel, and Alfred. They’re joined by exorcist Dominique (RotN), as well as newcomers Robert and Hachi, a long-range sharpshooter and a mech-commanding corgi. Transformations also make a return, and players can still swap characters at any time.
Curse of the Moon 2 will release for PC (Steam), PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. According to its Steam and Nintendo eShop pages, it will support split-screen co-op.
The game is developed and published by Inti Creates and comes from the mind of Koji Igarashi, perhaps best known for his work on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
