The latest marketing image for Black Widow reveals a better look at Taskmaster. Marvel Studios is set to kick off their Phase 4 with a prequel film focusing on Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) on the heels of her tragic death in Avengers: Endgame. In this standalone story, she faces off against a brand new antagonist - the mysterious Taskmaster.

Taking Marvel Studios’ prime May release date, the project is directed by Cate Shortland and will see the title character return to her spy origins as she reconnects with her roots. Black Widow will take fans back in the two years between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and will introduce fans to some other key players in Nat’s life. The film boasts a solid cast that includes David Harbour’s Alexei Shoskatov/Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz’s Melina and O-T Fagbenle as Mason.

With just a few months before Black Widow rolls out in theaters, Marvel continues to keep pertinent details about Taskmaster tightly under wraps. Fortunately, marketing for the film has given fans various looks at the villain, including the trailers which reveals how he/she will fare against Nat and her allies. Now, however, a brand new promotional image from Topps (via Marvel Stuff) is revealed, offering the public their best look at his/her costume thus far. Check out the image below:

In the comic books, Taskmaster is known to have the ability to mimic the abilities of their adversary, making the character an interesting antagonist to Black Widow who is highly-trained in hand-to-hand combat. So far, teasers have given fans an indication that Black Widow will have well-choreographed fight sequences - some of them will feature Taskmaster copying signature moves from other notable MCU heroes such as Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans). Considering Marvel Studios’ continued silence on who might be playing the villain, it’s safe to assume that his real identity will factor in a pivotal narrative twist that will define Black Widow. And since the events of the film will give fans a better sense of Nat’s choices in both Infinity War and Endgame, fans are understandably more eager to learn about it.

Whether Marvel Studios will reveal the identity of Taskmaster or save it for Black Widow itself remains to be a question. At this point, fans can only focus their attention on the character’s costume for the film. Comic book readers know that the villain has one of the coolest armors in Marvel print, so it make sense that they’re pushing for a comic-accurate adaptation. Despite the tweaks in details, the film’s version is about as similar to what the villain look like on the pages of comic books.
