Marvel’s deadliest assassin/former Avenger is on a mission no other superhero could ever, or would ever undertake. Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow is famous for her track record as a killer, and while she may have died and come back in a cloneed body (long story), she’s carrying the sins of her past with her. And doing her best to balance the scales in her new series Web of Black Widow.

The series finds Natasha completely off the grid, now that a mysterious threat has set the Widow in their sights. The previous issues have seen her cross paths with Bucky Barnes, the former Winter Soldier–revealing himself to be one of the only people who still believes the best in her. But for her next mission, beginning in the first official preview of Web of Black Widow #3, she’s turning to a different kind of support.

 

Since Natasha and Bucky Barnes have a long history, dating back to her Red Room training, he knows better than anyone that appearances can be deceiving. So now that an unknown woman is killing civilians while wearing Natasha’s face, Bucky wants to help. But Web of Black Widow #2 ended with Natasha leaping from a window to lock eyes with the killer impersonating her, and from the first pages of Issue #3, she didn’t stop chasing her prey since. It’s nice to actually see Natasha gaining some progress in her mission of tracking down the people and companies who benefitted from her old assassination work. Of course, her mission is complicated by the fact that she can’t actually remember every one of them (being cloned, and getting implanted memories can do that). But with Yelena Belova, the second Black Widow now on her side, perhaps some facts can be found out.
