Black Panther 2 may be a ways off, but writer and director Ryan Coogler has just started working on the story. Coogler also co-wrote and directed the first film in the series, 2018’s wildly successful Black Panther. A day after recording artist Alicia Keys saw her contract as BlackBerry ‘creative director’ expire, the Waterloo-based handset maker has filed a lawsuit against an accessory company cofounded by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest over a patent dispute, WSJ reports. While the keyboard accessory does resemble that of BlackBerry’s own handsets, it’s certainly an interesting stand to take against a startup company as even BlackBerry’s own smartphones are trending toward touch screen user interfaces and built-in keyboards have all but lost in popularity....

A new report from Bloomberg today highlights that Tim Cook and his team are “increasingly focused on succession planning” as he enters his 10th year as Apple CEO. The report explains that Apple is increasingly looking to “cultivate its next class of top managers.” Mark Gurman at Bloomberg writes: While Cook has given no indication that he’s ready to step aside, today’s report says that current Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams is internally viewed “as the heir apparent” for the CEO position....

According to a new report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple has recently demoed its upcoming AR/VR headset device to the Apple company board of directors. This is a good indicator that the project is at an ‘advanced stage’ and that a public product launch is imminent. Bloomberg previously reported that a consumer launch for the headset is planned for 2023 but an early announcement of the device is likely. Today’s report also said that the development of the headset’s operating system has ramped up in recent months....

(AAPL)’s suppliers are preparing to manufacture the company’s largest-ever iPad, with production scheduled to commence by the first quarter of next year, according to people with knowledge of the matter… The new iPad will have a screen measuring 12.9 inches diagonally, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public...

In a recent Activision Blizzard financial report, it appears that the StarCraft game series may be put on hold indefinitely. While StarCraft has garnered its own dedicated fanbase of players across the world, it’s a bit of an outlier amongst Blizzard’s other IP like Diablo, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty was the last RTS released by Blizzard in 2010, and considering the genre is already a niche endeavor for many gamers, it’s unsurprising that the other aforementioned titles are able to keep up a more steady stream of players coming in and out....

While the long-term Apple-building-a-vehicle rumors continue unabated, Apple’s current presence in the car comes via CarPlay, which allows a connected iPhone to show maps, communication apps and more on the in-car infotainment system. Bloomberg today reports that Apple wants to extend CarPlay to be able to interact more closely with the host vehicle. This could include controlling air conditioning, adjusting seats and other settings. Bloomberg says the project, codenamed ‘IronHeart’, is in the early development stages....

I frankly had a hard time staying involved in some of these chapters because it was like re-reading old news reports with little new information to keep me satiated. However, over this period of the book, you start to get an idea of where the whole thing is going....

Marvel’s Black Panther matches a box office feat Hollywood hasn’t seen since Avatar: winning five consecutive weekends. Ryan Coogler’s latest has been in very exclusive company since it opened a month ago, rewriting the record books throughout its run. Very quickly, Black Panther became one of the highest-grossing films of all-time, recently passing major blockbusters like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Dark Knight on the U.S. charts. At its current trajectory, Panther should be able to top The Avengers as the MCU’s top earner ever....

After 2018’s Black Panther became both a $1.3 billion-grossing box office smash and a cultural landmark, Marvel couldn’t sign Ryan Coogler back on to write and direct a sequel fast enough. Coogler has been allowed to take his time with the story and various other projects he’s working on, so we won’t be seeing Black Panther II until 2022. But it will likely be worth the wait, as Coogler nailed it the first time, and he’ll probably be given even more creative freedom by Marvel this time around....
